How To Measure |
The Perfect Fit |
Things To Do
- Measure the exact position where the door will be installed.
- Carefully measure from wood door jamb (brickmold) to wood door jamb.
-
Measure for the opening in three places vertically and horizontally - use the
smallest of each of the three measurements - see diagrams at left and
below.
Things Not To Do
- Do not measure the existing storm door.
- Do not measure from Z-Bar to Z-Bar of the existing storm door.
- Do not measure the main/interior door.

Minimum Depth |
NOTE: A minimum depth of 3 3/4" is required between the prime door and the
storm door mounting point (Z-Bar) for a proper fit. When the depth is less
than 3 3/4" we recommend the addition of brick mold (casings).
